My oldest son has hit 5 feet tall. He's just turned eleven years old, so he's probably going to be taller than me by the time he's finished with sixth grade. It's been hard to predict what his adult height will be just by looking at his parents. My husband has an adrenal dysfunction, the medication for which shortened what his adult height genetically should have been.
My physician dad took one look at the kid over Thanksgiving (and the size of those flippers he calls feet) and said, he'll be 6 foot 2, easy. I looked it up on a growth chart recently (which of course is just an average), and sure enough he's exactly on the line for 74 inches (6 foot 2). How'd my dad do that? I guess forty years of being a physician has some uses after all.
It just points out the importance of establishing yourself as the authority in the house, before they physically overwhelm you.
